TRACEY LEE #Salute

My Reflection on Tracey Lee
I believe it was the summer of 1990 I was hanging at my ace-homie Sean's crib. We decide to go next door to play basketball at Terry's (Tracey's brother) crib. When we got there, I met Tracey. He was on the sideline rhyming over the music that was playing from someone's car (cant remember who). Dude was nice! Even then. He let us know then that this was his passion and that he was gonna make it happen. Fast-forward to my sophmore year in college-spring of 1994..by then I was djing...We all gathered at Sean and Terry's crib in ATL for Freaknic. Can't remember quite everything lol , but I know we had a great time. They threw a party and I was the DJ. Tracey gave me much props and invited me to spin at this party he was doin at Six Flags--Bangin. During that time, he slid me a cassette tape and was like "This is what Ive been up to...I'm about to do this thing". Two joints that stood out to me on that tape were "Reputation" and "On Edge" (On Edge later appeared on Many Facez). When I heard the songs on the tape I knew without a doubt that this brother was about to do the damn thing. And when he did, I was so proud man!! I really was. Seeing him on the charts, on TV, hearing him on the radio, going the club and seeing the reaction of the crowd when "The Theme" came on!!!! "Its Party Time".
Tray--man I was proud of you then and I am proud of you now! You're a perfect example of determination, resilience and excellence!! I salute you!!!~Reuben aka DJ Conscience

On April 7, 2017, Snoop Doggy Dog will do the honors of inducting the late icon 2pac into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. There's been talk about the possibility of Dr. Dre being apart of this also. Guess we shall see. This event will take place in Brooklyn at the Barclay Center.

RAEKWON releases THE WILD

Wu Tang member Raekwon has released his 7th studio album titled THE WILD. This is a timely release for me as I have found myself in dire straits-in need of some hip hop releases that leaned towards the kind of hip hop I fell in love with in the first place. Dope Beats, Edge-Sword Lyrics, Thought Provoking, Imaginative Storytelling, with Attitudinal Swag. Yeah, thats what Ive been missing. THE WILD gives me just that. The project also features artists like CeeLo, Lil Wayne, and Andra Day. It's definitely worth checking out!!!

CHASING GOOSEBUMPS:: Glenn Lewis x DJ Jazzy Jeff x Rich Medinia

Each time I play this album, I definitely understand why they chose the title "Chasing Goosebumps". Props to Glenn Lewis, Jazzy Jeff and Rich Medina. This is the kind of project I'd hope for from Glenn for a long time now. Talk about Soul Music Restoration...Or just Restoration of "GOOD MUSIC". My hope is that it awakens folk--the listeners and other artists. My hope is that more artists find that place where they can create music that is the proper blend of them expressing themselves-being able to stay true to their interpretation, but not so true that they are unable to create music that people (masses) actually want to hear. I mean....if the intention is to be heard and actually "eat". That doesn't go for everyone..lol...some artist just want to have the space to create music and the monetary or popularity thing is less important...and that is fine too, for those that can afford to do so...but, if that is not the case, you may chance going the through some struggling times trying to stay afloat or affluent as a full time artist. Sometimes we (even I) hear projects from our favorite artists and no matter how bad it sucks, or how much luster it lacks....because we love the artist...we are afraid to be honest and say it sucks or wtf or accept the fact that it's not "moving".... The joy comes when that artist releases something into the universe that is definitive, gravitating and soothing to the ears, spirit evoking within our soul, makes our heads nod..our bodies syncopate to the bassline....groove.....ie Chasing Goosebumps!! If you aint got it......GET EXPOSED
